HondaLink // Naviplus introduces mobile-free GPS Sat Navigation Upgrade
Ever since CarPlay was announced for development & partnership with automotive industry back in mid 2013, Honda was the first runner up for the implementation on their vehicles, followed up by Ferrari, Hyundai and Volvo later on.
And in 2014 Honda released their complete own version of CarPlay with core features, known as HondaLink those applied on every single range of vehicle apart from Accord, Accord Euro (CU2 Got discontinued in Australia since 2013) and new Civic that recently has been announced back in early May of this year.
Despite the fact that the CarPlay was the ideal and revolutionary update on Automotive industry, It took so many times to adjust it properly (still on going) and in some countries It's not fully supported still, waiting upon update from manufacturer - and device firmware participate in delaying full usage of it.
Apart from Ferrari - which was fully granted with full support from Apple with entire feature Apple developed.
But anyway, in terms of the HondaLink's GPS system - partnered with Sygic GPS Navigation, Honda has been offering the Sygic powered GPS Navigation system , utilizing CarPlay's initial set up of powering certain apps based on wired connection between Phone and audio.
Yet due to It's based on mobile data that can be heavily affected by environment / location, and as mentioned above, mobile powered GPS , and then linked again to Audio unit - may not always deliver the best results and already there are people experiencing hard to use, and complaining that even that old Map Disc type Navigation on Luxury trim is better than this.
In that matter, if you are experience same or want to avoid those problems in future:
Naviplus introduces an Integrated, meaning that It will be added on existing :GPS Navigation system that works as an individual GPS software inside of HondaLink audio.
It's simply the GPS system, that doesn't need any sort of connection from your phone nor needs additional data to operate.
It's indeed and literally the 'individual GPS' designed just for HondaLink system, to solve your problem with connection / data cut out.
The way system work is that, it integrates to into audio without touching anything, meaning there isn't any change nor removal of appearance / feature involved.
And the GPS system will share the function of graphic display, with HondaLink, that It uses display as its own when the GPS is called out -
Just like above, the system integrates and still uses one of those existing buttons as a launcher, for every HondaLink installed vehicle, which is the 'Menu' button on steering wheel controls.
Up on prolonged press of the button, the display mode will switch into Navigation, whilst every single feature of HondaLink audio will be working in background,.
In example, whilst GPS is being displayed, radio / music stream via storage / bluetooth etc will still run in background and being played in Car speakers, and when GPS needs to make a sound - voice guidance or alert - the speaker will do fade in and out, to play GPS sound.
As Integrated, It will work as if it's part of the HondaLink feature.
Also, the famous 3 point view Reversing camera system of Honda- that granting multiple angle view or Rear sight will be retained.
Some of people considered replacing audio unit for proper GPS- to cost and feature wise, could be a good option, yet as there aren't such solution for making it compatible with Steering wheel controls, and also the Reversing camera , Lane Watch Camera will disappear and won't be working.
Whilst Naviplus's HondaLink Audio Integrated GPS Navigation system will work with those features, nothing will disappear nor removed, everything, literally everything will remain same apart from adding GPS function to the car.
